Elizabeth Taylor in costume on the set of Raintree County, 1957

When I arrived on the set for the first time, I saw Elizabeth quietly sitting in the shadows, wearing a heart stopping whipped cream confection of lace. Walter Plunkett had outdone himself in creating the setting for this almost edible young lady. Don’t move, I thought, and scrambled to get my camera out. Will she hold it for just a minute more? Yes, she did. She stood up and looked over towards me, posed with her fan, winked, and headed to the set, leaving me rooted to the spot.
